Joan Gower

I first met Joan way back in the 70’s when she was working at the Club as the Secretary’s secretary.
Later she became a member and was elected onto the Committee.  Progressing over the years she eventually became President.
When I joined the Committee in the late 70’s it was made up of mostly ex-service people and Joan’s presence made a welcome change to the aspect of running the Club as she had a different view of things.  As the years have passed she was the last of ‘the old school’ and attended every AGM after leaving the Committee many years ago.
After loosing her husband she met up with Harry and eventually got married again.  They both enjoyed their retirement going on many cruises and being members of one of the local golf clubs as well as attending all our 100 Club parties.
I will miss her very much and hope she will be remembered for all the time and dedication she spent for the Club and the benefit of the members.
